The Lee Brown Project was a durational life performance spanning March 2009 – March 2011. The performance centered around a created persona, Lee Brown, who attended Carsten Aveda Cosmetology School and later worked at an upscale salon in the East Village. The project intended to critique the beauty industry by addressing its oppressive and exclusive standards through creating queer visibility in a hetero/homonormative environment.
